Amazon Animal Rescue Centre Ecuador
Working as a volunteer on this project will get you vitally involved in the lives of both the animals and people of the Ecuadorian Amazon region. The centre works in a joint venture with an indigenous Indian community based in the jungle, and has gained over 1,000 private hectares of unspoiled Amazon forest to release the rescued animals into.
Volunteer RoleThe project works to demonstrate to members of the community that it is possible to live by sustainable means in the jungle – to protect its animals and rainforest.
Duties and activities that you will be involved with include: The project gives you the exceptional chance to understand indigenous life in the Amazon while helping to protect the future of the forest, its native people and animals. During your time there you will mainly be involved in the daily care of the wide variety of animals at the centre.
These are likely to include parrots, jaguars, lions, monkeys, macaws, pumas, ocelots, and a variety of other South American species.

LocationThe project is situated between various indigenous communities in the Amazon Jungle, and about an hour’s journey away from the town of Puyo (35kms).
