Bolivia Youth Volunteer Project
This program provides support to orphaned teenagers aged between five and 18 years of age. Our volunteers help them to build self-confidence and to develop the manual skills needed to find a job when they leave the center.
The Volunteer Role
Some previous experience of working with adolescent children is necessary for this role.
Activities vary on a daily basis, so volunteers must be flexible. Help is needed in the following areas: Secretarial work, administration, psychology department, above all, people with a knowledge of shoe making, metal work, carpentry, and leather work. An awareness of music, sport instruction including baseball, football and basketball and computers skills is also very beneficial.
Your hours are flexible with options to work in the morning, afternoon, evening or at the weekend.
To give our volunteers an all-encompassing taste of Bolivia, some participants choose to combine this project with our language and culture program.
Project Location
This project is located in the colonial city of Sucre. Brimming with museums, shops, bars, clubs and restaurants this is a beautiful, cultural and lively town and is a great place to while away some leisure time.
Accommodation & Meals
You will stay in our volunteer apartment, which is eight blocks from the project center. You can request a shared room if you are traveling with a friend, or a private room. There is a communal bathroom, kitchen and living facilities. Meals are not included in the program, so we advise volunteers to rotate shopping and cooking duties or to eat out. Meals are very reasonable and relatively cheap.
